Teacher fakes stairway plunge to avoid review

Just how far would you be willing to go to avoid a dreaded performance review?

Brooklyn, NY, high school teacher Ilene Feldman was apparently willing to throw herself down a set of stairs to get out of one, according to reports from the New York Post.

The first-year teacher had already received a negative rating in a previous classroom observation. Rather than face another poor review, she decided to pratfall down a stairwell.

Feldman claimed the incident was an accident, but security camera footage shows the teacher pausing on the fifth set of a staircase and waiting for someone to approach.  After she saw someone coming, Feldman slowly dropped herself down onto a second floor landing and began making sounds like she was in extreme pain.

She was treated at a nearby hospital for her “injuries” and filed for four days of injury compensation for the workdays missed. When investigators asked Feldman to watch a frame-by-frame playback of the topple, she refused and resigned several days later.
