Worker’s porn addiction crashes rail line’s network

Right now, in offices across the country, people are using the Internet for non-business reasons. Let’s hope they’re not looking at the same sites this person was viewing.

A 52-year-old Swedish rail worker was recently blasted by bosses and managers for looking at pornographic videos, images and other material while using his work-sanctioned computer. And it wasn’t a matter of being caught once and getting a slap on the wrist – the worker apparently looked at so much pornography that it absolutely crippled the rail line’s computer network.

IT investigators found so many viruses and related malware on the signalman’s computer that it was incapable of running a train safely.

Risking the lives of thousands of passengers on hundreds of cargo trains wasn’t enough to get the worker to kick his scandalous habit. He regularly missed shifts, and when he did show up for work (and wasn’t looking at porn), he was usually asleep – because he’d tired himself looking at Internet images all night.

Quick to come to the signalman’s defense, his union bosses have said the rail line’s official warning was “too harsh,” and that “a letter would have been more appropriate.

I’m not sure I understand how he could be viewing all this material while asleep on the job. And where is the corporate anti-virus and other protection all this time? And they say this same computer was used for real-time activation of train signaling devices? Sounds like somebody has their facts twisted. And exactly what was their concern? The thousands of lives on the trains? The viruses? Or the material being viewed?

Let’s just be thankful the bosses and managers never look at the stuff :)

The railroad lines is at fault, not the poor slob who likes looking at boobies.
It is so easy to lock down a computer, the IT director is the one that should be
    fired, or the CEO.
